Matt HowardMatt Howard of EatStreet announced in February that they made it to Series A and raised $2 million.  EatStreet is proof that existing online restaurant ordering platforms now have some steep competition.  In their expansion they’ve targeted the underserved areas of the country, and as a result, they’re growing by leaps and bounds! What started as a small project of only 100 restaurants in 2009 has grown to over 1,000 restaurants in 20 cities, primarily in the Midwest and on the East Coast.  Keep an eye on this one in the coming months, as their goal is much bigger. They’re striving for a unique platform approach that will incorporate Facebook and building mobile apps for restaurants as well.

The focus is on connecting with the audience in order to produce immediate results.

James Tamplin, Founder FirebaseThe past week James Tamplin of Firebase announced that they were launching their (iOS) SDK.  The new SDK not only simplifies the app creation process, but it also provides convenient improvements to apps such as immediate refreshing for data when changes occur.  That means you can say “So long!” to “Pull To Refresh”.  With first-class security and automatic scaling, Firebase is becoming the premier app-building database for developers.
